One year ago

It's been a year since I made the decision to change my life.  The realization hit that in order to keep living, I had to lose some weight.  I have lost 56 pounds in 1 year/12 months/52 weeks/365 days, however you want to see it.

I remember saying to myself "if only I lost 2 pounds per week I would lose over 100 pounds".  I would be lying if I said that I wasn't disappointed by not losing that amount of weight.  I would also be lying if I said that I wasn't proud of myself for losing 56 pounds!  I could still be weighing in at 335 pounds (or worse).  Instead I'm continuously learning how to change my lifestyle, my food choices, my exercise plan, and improving my life in general.

I understand how you feel!! I started about a year ago, and my 'projections' would have had me at goal by now. It's hard to feel too bad though, when I feel much healthier than I ever did before!!

You are doing awesome, and focus on what you have accomplished- which is a lot. I am hoping for 100 by my bandiversary on 10/1, but if it doesn't happen, I am still happy!

Thanks for your supportive comment!!!!

Congratulations! You are doing great. Don't be disappointed. I started after I had my daughter and here I am 21 months later and still losing and gaining the same 20 lbs.

I think any amount of weight lost - and keeping it off - is a major accomplishment in a year. From someone who knows, losing it slowly and deliberately is the best way to lose, because you're giving yourself time to adjust to a new lifestyle and a new body. I think by losing too fast, doesn't really give the person enough time to accept those changes so they don't know how to deal, then the weight creeps back on. It's a long road this way, but in the end you'll be glad, I think.

Progress, not perfection!! You've changed some bad habits and kept them- THAT is the important part! If we hadn't started this a year ago, God knows where we would be right now. Probably lugging around another 25 lbs, or worse. Celebrate the work you've done!

50 pounds is 49.9 more than most and something to celebrate! I think i only lost 45 my first year. Be proud - i can not wait to see what this year brings!

Really really good positive thinking. You are right - you could still be 335! Keep plugging away. It will come off in dribs and drabs!

Yes! A year is a great celebration, now keep going. :)
