It's easy just to give up

It seems as though I can't get past this 300 pound mark.  I hover between 307 and 301, and it's really starting to get frustrating.  I'm tracking all my food and exercising at least 20 minutes (if not more) each day.  Hubby is tired of this emotional roller coaster and has said numerous times this week to stop obsessing over the number on the scale.  That I should look at how many inches I've lost and how I feel.  How is it possible to not obsess over the scale?  You put in the work each and every week and expect to see a lower number on the scale.

It's so freaking easy to just go to McDonald's and grab a Big Mac with a large fry and Dr. Pepper.  It's easy to just give up.  I'm hanging by a thread, but I'm not giving up yet.

DON'T GIVE UP!!!!!!

I did a couple years ago and it was NOT good. I gained back EVERYTHING I lost. I wish now that I had just even been able to maintain until I could find my motivation again.

Well, you won't get past the 300 mark at McD's will you. The emotional rollercoaster won't get any better there, trust me, it will get worse. Keep it up and it WILL change. I've been stuck at the same number for 2 weeks for no reason and it IS frustrating but a Big Mac is NOT going to cure it. It is just 5 minutes of stupid mouth pleasure. So not worth it. Keep it up! You can do it!

Oh, don't give up. What's easy isn't always what's right and what right isn't always easy. Listen to your husband, he is right, your health is the most important thing.

I belive you can do it, follow your healthy life plan, and in a year you'll look back and be happy you stuck to your guns.

Oh I know the power of the number on the scale. He doesn't get it. Keep doing what you're doing and you'll see the 2s before long.

It's not that easy to give up. When you give up you are making the choice to continue to be unhappy, to be unhealthily and to shorten your life. If you give up your are making the choice to take away from your kids an active mom. When you give up you are making the choice to stop believing in yourself. That's an awful lot to accept. If you keep going now you will truly be able to say that you are a fighter and you deserve every single pound lost.
I found myself slipping away simply because I'm tired of being on a diet but now it's just time for me to dig my heals in deep . I had to ask myself was I really trying? It really helped to take a few days of carefully tracking what I ate without restriction to see that I wasn't doing as well as I thought. I was eating 1,600 a day. I know that doesn't sound bad but at 162 pounds that's maintenance calories not weight loss.
I don't know what your method is but I would like to suggest you use livestrong.com to recalculate your calorie needs. Track all your nutrients for a few days at your current eating habits and she how you stack up compared to what livestrong suggest for you. Maybe you are doing well on calories but eat too much sodium and carbohydrates. What ever you do don't give up because I want nothing more then to see you succeed.

Hang on girlie--sooner or later something has to give! I never weigh, I guess I just try to look at this way of eating/moving as a life long deal. I know obsessing over results and progress can get ya though. Usually my motto is just look the other way and keep doing the right thing...sooner or later it WILL pay off. Sometimes for me nothing seems to be happening for weeks then Woosh, I notice changes. Keep on fighting!

I am the same way.. I can't NOT look at the scale.. I really should put it away until WI day, but I don't lol.

But your hubby is right.. look at inches and go off of how you feel. If you FEEL better, things will fall into place eventually.

Stay strong mama!

Don't let that happen to yourself. It is always important to use other methods of measuring success like measurements. I have also heard people have great success when they stop setting numbers as their goal, and make their goal to go the whole week without cheating on their diet and things like that. The weight will follow, don't loose faith.

What plan are you doing? Do you think trying something structured for a while would help you get over (under) your hump? Girl, weight loss is the friggin' pits, but we NEED to do it. If you put it off, it will only get harder as you get older. If you don't want to try structured, maybe play around with your food or exercise one week and see what happens...maybe you need a different combo of food groups, or different types of exercise...

I'm doing Weight Watchers. I was curious what kind of calories I'm consuming while doing the program and tracked those for 2 weeks also. I'm in between 1500-1700 a day. Maybe I'm just stressing too much.

Ann-Marie is right, M. Giving up means more than just giving up the diet. You will be giving up the work it took to get the weight off and it will come back on with a vengeance. Then you will really be unhappy with yourself - far more than just the frustration you're feeling right now. If you're wavering, email one of us - remember, we're all here for you and are rooting for you in any way we can. PUSH ON!

I know how frustrated you must be feeling, take a deep breathe and realize how far you have come and I agree with your hubby, look at how many inches, how your life has changed for the better :) Don't give in to the Mickey D's!!
have a boca burger and some baked fries!!!
You will do this!

Hang in there! I know exactly how you feel! You will get past this!

"Maybe I'm just stressing too much?" Probably. I know that I can be doing everything "right" on food intake and exercise and just stall with weight loss, and when I look back it is usually a period of higher stress. Stress makes your body say, "Hang on to the fat we might need it!" Maybe try some mediation or deep breathing exercises....or even better get a massage!

It's sooo hard, but you've got this!

Keep workin at it. I'm not sure how often you're weighing, but it might help to actually weigh daily at the same time. Set an alarm, get up & pee - then weigh yourself right away. You might find that you are under 300 one of those days and just having that information can push you forward. :-)

You CAN DO IT!!!!!!

I know it's frustrating and I've said almost the exact same words. One thing I do know is that I would most likely get to the 400 lb mark if I kept eating McDonald's or fast food in general. Hang in there and make this your life long way of eating. It seems to make it easier. I say that no matter what the scale say, I'm not going to eat crap.

It's a good question: "How is it possible to not obsess over the scale?" I decided to not own a scale: the only time I get on one is once a week at the WW meeting.
Also, I don't control what the scale shows. I control what foods I eat and the intensity of my exercise. So, I try not to stress about things I can't control, and only deal with the things I can.
