The frumpy fat mom

I had many errands to run for the day, but my last stop was at a vendor we've been dealing with for my son's football team. When I walked in, the owner called me by a different name. I corrected her with a smile and she said, "Oh, you look so different today. You actually look really happy." I jokingly said, "Well, it's ok if you say that I usually look more frumpy." She reluctantly agreed.  Thankfully, the surprise didn't show on my face that she had the balls to agree with me.

I admit it.  I could easily be described not only as "the fat mom" but as "the frumpy mom".  My wardrobe consists of t-shirts, shorts, no make up, wet hair that is usually in a messy bun.  Why dress up when I feel frumpy on the inside?  It takes me less than 10 minutes to throw something on and walk out the door.  I look long enough in the mirror to make sure there is nothing in my teeth or hanging out of my nose.

Today is different though!  I feel good about myself (which is a rare occasion).  For the first time in ages I made an attempt to not be frumpy by dressing in something other than an oversized t-shirt, spending time on my make up, and actually using a blow dryer.  Amazingly, it felt good!  I felt good!  And because I feel good about myself, maybe just maybe it shows on the outside too!

You look Beautiful!!! We all have our frumpy days - or slumps even, but it's amazing how a little time on ourselves can change our attitude and lift us up! I used to be the same way - living in ponytail land.. but I went to a BeautiControl Spa party - and now I love to spend a little time on myself - even washing my face - I feel better. And I love playing with makeup nowadays... a little too much I think! Anyways - don't let that lady (or yourself!)drag you down - she was the one who noticed your chipper spirit!

Some people have to have coffee in the morning...I have to "get ready" (that's what my kids say ~ mom's getting ready!) I'm probably just going to be in shorts and a tshirt, but I have to be showered, hair done, make up, some sort of good smelly stuff. :) It's the only thing that makes me feel prepared to face everything going on. I know, I know...and I'm the one who can't remember breakfast and lunch! LOL Anyway, it is a beautiful picture! Don't let that woman take away your happy.

What a great feeling that must have been to hear that lady say that to you.

See how good you felt after "dressing up"? Make a conscience effort to do it each day, and before you know it, you'll be losing pounds and feeling great about yourself ALL the time. It truly works, even if it means putting on a little makeup, but still wearing your shorts and t-shirt. Then, maybe some cute pants with that t-shirt, and finally a super cute shirt to go with the cute pants....and still putting on makeup. :)

You can do it, small changes will show to others, which in turn, comments make you want to do it more.

You're beautiful, show the world!!!

I love this blog! I'm so glad I found you...I totally relate to you, especially that last post. I'm a total jeans/t-shirt/ponytail kind of girl, and I actually feel "wrong" in anything else...and usually I feel like makeup doesn't make much of a difference in how I look, so I just don't bother. Congratulations on your weight loss so far. I can't wait to see what else is in store for you!
