Frustrated with weighing in

This morning was weigh in and it ended up with me on the floor crying next to my scale.
  • I've stayed within my daily Weight Watchers Points allotment all week.  I did not use any weekly "cheat" points.
  • I've tracked every single morsel of food.
  • For the past 7 days I've been exercising.  Hubby and I have been riding our bikes around the neighborhood.  Around lunch I dance for 20-40 minutes using the Xbox Kinect.
  • 6-12 glasses of water every single day.
  • I've been taking Melatoin religiously to help me sleep at night.  It's been a miracle.
  • And because I was curious, I started tracking my calories which range between 1400-1700 daily.
All that work for 0.4 loss?  This week I've been totally committed to staying on track and my result is a 0.4 loss.  So damn frustrating!

It is but next week you might have a BIG loss. There are lots of factors playing in there including hormones and retention of sodium!!! Years ago when I went to WW I would starve myself the day before to get a good number on the scale...it only worked temporarily! Keep up the good work- that exercise will pay off!

It is frustrating!!! But wait, hold on...if you follow the program to the "t" again as you did last week it will correct itself. Tracking every single moursel of food is great - keep it up. When I worked for WW I found that people all lost in different patterns. I had this one lady that would lose 0 one week and the next she'd be down 4 lbs. It was so unusual.

No matter how many pounds a person had to lose it usually ended up that if you took what they lost and divided it by the number of weeks they were on program it would always come out to between 1 and 3 lbs. Hang in there, kiddo. The scale doesn't tell your life story. You did great. (check) On program 100% (check)

Don't think of it as work. Think of it as fun (said the person who has said exactly what you've said before, but is trying to change my attitude). This is life!

Been there... That being said.

A scale is cold medal object that sits on your bathroom floor that produces numbers that we are suppose to gage our "success" on...I say get rid of the scale and enjoy all that you did! excercise, water, health food choices..if we had a healthometer you would get an A++++++ print out today!

Any chance it is around time for your period? When I had my gain week, it was due to ww from my period, the next week I lost 4.5 pounds. So stay strong, it will all even out.

I've heard that working out and such can cause a lactic acid(?) build up and that your muscles can make you retain extra water as they are building so that might be it but you still had a LOSS!

Celebrate that!

Also, you might want to increase your water. I've been trying to have about 4200 ml of water per day at my weight of 224.2

I rarely get there but if I did it would be like 16 cups of water a day I think.

I am up a pound this week in spite of being ill and not eating over 1000 calories for the last three days, but I retain water when I'm sick, don't let it get you down. bet you'll have one of those big, buy new pants losses really soon!

I just have to agree with the others. More than likely you'll have a big loss next week. Have you tried measuring yourself? You might be losing more inches than pounds, especially with the exercise. Either way, stick with it and just keep doing what you're doing because you're doing every thing spot on. :) Don't give up! *HUGS*

I can so feel your frustration and deservedly so. BUT, remember it's about getting healthy! And you are doing the things to get healthy. Your body WILL adjust!! You may want to take your measurements once a week too, as you often see more changes in inches than weight as your body readjusts. But know this, it WILL pay off and you ARE doing great!! Don't let the scale determine your happiness. Let how much better you feel, how your clothes feel, how eating better food feels, sleeping better, etc be feels be what brings you that joy. Hang in there - Do NOT give up. You are making a difference in your life and the life of your family, even when it can't be seen. (((( HUGS ))))

I can totally understand! Just keep with it and you will see a better loss next week - sometimes it takes time for it to show up!

Darla - you are right. I go through surges of weight loss. One week is hardly anything and the next I loss a ton. I'm hoping for that next week!

Polar's Mom - I wish I could blame my period, but I don't have one. Love my IUD!

FAB - Liquid/Water and I are not friends. It takes everything I have to drink 8 glasses of water. It's always been a struggle since I am never thirsty.

I'm moving forward and trying to stay positive.

I'm not this smart, passing on advice I got from Dr. H Monday:

First- you are FEMALE! Unfortunately, it isn't just math for us. There are God knows how many hormones that affect weight loss, and they fluctuate all month long for women.

Second- I personally see a small loss, and even slight gains have happened when I added strength training (extra water and lactic acid in muscles are a necessary evil), whenever I add exercise in--like after being sick and then adding it all back in? Hellur, you're just getting over the black plague. Give your body a chance to catch back up love!

Third- Dr. H said the scale is a witch. I said bitch, but whatever. This is an area I really struggle in despite telling myself over and over that I won't let it upset me. I relaxed this week, and saw a 3 lb loss for our BL challenge at work on Friday. Didn't do anything different, just relaxed. I'd only weigh every other week if I didn't have this challenge, maybe something to consider?

Sending hugs!! And a hammer to smash the bitch!
