What would you do?

Have you ever thought about what you would do after you lost weight?  Not just for yourself, but for other people who are struggling too.  How would you motivate others to lose weight and adapt a healthier lifestyle?

Last year I worked with a personal trainer for 2-3 months.  He was great and I really miss working with him.  He had experience working with obese/overweight individuals and you could tell by the way he interacted with you.  He pushed you, but was sensitive enough not to push you over your limit.  He encouraged you when you thought you couldn't go on any more.  He never yelled and it was easy to feel comfortable with him.

And that's what I want.  My dream is to be a personal trainer or a class instructor for obese/overweight individuals.  I think it's easier to relate to someone who has been there.  I have two major thoughts about this.  #1:  OMG, I have a long way to go for that to ever happen.  #2:  How awesome would that be?  To be able to motivate others while they accomplish their own personal weight loss goal.  A-MAZING!

So tell me, how would you give back?

I love that! I feel the same way. I don't want anyone to go through all the pain and suffering of being obese and I would want to help and encourage and support all I can. I can't be a personal training a I have no clue, but I would want to give back by supporting and encouraging! I think you'd make an awesome personal trainer! I would go to you, hands down!! :)

There is a woman that I am acquaintances with and she is a personal trainer at a local gym. She weights almost 200 pounds and is one of the most sought after trainers there. She is good at what she does, knows her form and is really solid and strong. Don't think that you have to be 125 pounds in order to make this dream come true; I think this is a great post and you are right about giving back to those who need support. I didn't have any support early on when losing weight and I wish to God blogs like this existed because I sure could have used them. I really commend you on thinking about giving back (although I'm not surprised in the least - that's the kind of awesome person you are) You can totally do this when you're ready to. :)

That is so cool. A lot of people, once they lose weight, want to get involved in the fitness business in some way.

I am hoping to start working for WW again when I get back to goal - I love interacting with everyone!

I hope your dad is doing fine. I have been busy and alas, a bit blue over a terrible tragedy that happened to an online acquaintance's son plus my church friend's memorial Saturday. I'm making 25 chicken salad sandwiches for that. Anyhow as for paying forward or giving back, I try to do that everyday but not just weight related. I have to get back to totally lo-carbing today!

I feel that I spend so much time thinking about what i am eat, what calories i am burning that i need stay with the mindset when i hit goal. I considered the training but then i realized that I want to be a nutrionist. I still have so much to learn about food. I have no idea how to become one. We could be a team! i teach them what to eat and you do the workouts!

I think that's an awesome dream, hon. Mine is to be a Weight Watchers Leader someday after I lose the weight. :)

I want to do exactly that. I am taking nutrition classes and have decided to use our tax return money to pay for a fitness trainer certification. I want to work with people who are very overweight and who have extra circumstances like arthritis, etc. That has become my new dream.

Good question...I have a long list of things to do for ME, but hadn't thought about doing something for others-honestly I did not think my journey would make that much of a difference to anyone...But I do agree that having been there would put me more in a place of understanding than your average individual who hasn't struggled...

I love this post. This isn't an actual what would I do to give back cause I am not for sure yet, but This was along the same line I have been thinking lately. Like, when I lose the weight will I want to do something different with my life or just continue to be a "front office assistant" a secretary. I think that I would want to change my way of life and work if I lost a lot of my weight. You go girl! Keep it up and I can not wait to see you conquer it!

Such a cool idea! I think more people would definitely want to seek help with fitness if they wouldn't feel judged/misunderstood/intimidated by trainers.

Thoughts are with your dad!

I've actually been thinking about this a lot lately...and I know I've just started again & I've got a LONG way to go...but I would love to be a WW leader one day.

Of course, I want to make sure the program is still working for me in a few months. But I think it would be a great way to motivate others!!

I think you have a fantastic idea! And second that you don't have to be 125. :) You'd be great at it. Because? Because your heart is in the right place. I'd hire ya!

My oldest son has been thinking about becoming a trainer. I just encourage him. He really enjoys helping other young people to see that yes they can.

And me I don't how or what I will do to give back. I think perhaps just living my days the best way I can will be good. :) Nutrition and pyschology and a combo of the two is something I'm interested in passing on.
